Modest fashion is my passion, not only as for Muslim women. Rather it is as diverse as there are traditions and religions in the world.

All these wonderful women agree on the idea that modest fashion means relatively loose clothing, comfortable dressing and covering of the body according to every woman’s own comfort. And that is exactly where the difference comes, because there is an unambiguous interpretation for every woman as to what dress fits the criteria.

My personal clothing preference has been modesty, comfort, and an unmatched drive to stand out. The “what” and never the “when”; the elegant looks anytime, everywhere.

Take for example, The American tradition of relaxed clothing for travel as opposed to looking elegant, I was raised by grandma with the Somali saying, “Maradaada kaa magac dheer”, your dress says more about you than yourself. Thus, from a young age, I wouldn’t be caught outside dressed incongruously.

Just like I would dress professionally to the office to present a professional image of my organization, I owe it to myself to dress elegantly in order to present myself as a classy and elegant Muslimah with modesty.

Unfortunately, the word fashion in mainstream media is synonymous with skin-revealing.

Like many other girls in our tradition, I was raised with much stricter dress values. Therefore, growing up, I had to constantly make a choice between dressing trendy and keeping the values I was raised with.

I shop a lot, budget friendly, and I never grab one thing alone. This is important to me, I would grab one dress and shop until I find the perfect hijab and shoes for it, down to the jewelry piece that’ll go with it.

Thanks to similar minded Muslimah’s, modest fashion is easy to find online, and many sisters have plenty of choices to a thing and I see my ideals reflected in many of the things.

It’s my pleasure seeing everyone interested & stunned when dumbstricken by my appearance and they find gesture of asking “where have you got your Outfit.

I own a talk show Dose of a reality W/Shukri, my talk show is a live streaming talk show, I showcases the story of Somali success and we cover the most current events of our community in MN.

I take pleasure in recognizing successful individuals and encouraging the upcoming generations for a brighter future.

Success is defined by the potential and characteristics dept of your belief.
